BSAFE Web SEMS Database

 

In 1996 Byrnecut implemented a Lotus Notes computerised database called SAFE2000 as the core of its Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS). The computerised database has undergone several upgrades and now exists as a database driven HTML application known as BSAFEWeb. The current BSAFEWeb System is ten times the size of the original SAFE2000 System introduced in 1996.
Byrnecut’s BSAFEWeb Safety Management System database has site computers linked via wide area network lines to our central server in our Corporate Office. The BSAFEWeb System manages all of our Safety, Environmental, Quality and Training information and affords us the ability to communicate and monitor site and departmental requirements, standards, etc. in a timely manner.
The BSAFEWeb Model has four primary sections:
  • System Elements
  • System Documentation
  • System Records; and
  • System Tools.
BSAFEWeb System Elements
This section provides access to the eight elements of the Byrnecut SEMS. The eight elements within this section are:
  • Risk Management.
  • Incident Reporting.
  • Safety Communication.
  • Training Program.
  • Human Resources.
  • Injury Management.
  • Contractor Management; and.
  • Induction Program..
BSAFEWeb System Documentation

This section provides access to the supporting documents of the SEMS. Documents include Policies, SEQ&T Performance, Standards, Procedures, Templates and Safety and Health Rules.

 

BSAFEWeb System Records
This section provides quick and easy access to the subset BSAFE System Element functions that are most commonly used. Subsets include:
  • Training Records.
  • Planned Inspections.
  • Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Meeting Minutes.
  • Task Observations; and.
  • Action Register.
BSAFEWeb System Tools
This section provides access to internal and external systems that support the SEMS. This section provides access to the following:
  • Byrnecut Intranet.
  • Australian Standards Online.
  • Job Bank.
  • ChemWatch.
  • Workload Review; and.
  • Report Wizard.
