BSAFE Audit System

Byrnecut has developed a bank of 3000 questions on a Microsoft Access Database called BSAFE (Byrnecut Systematic Auditing For Excellence). The Byrnecut SEQT Area Managers are responsible for conducting the BSAFE Audits at all of our Sites. Once the Area Managers complete an Audit they assist in the completion of corrective action requirements at the site.

The Access Database is operated from a computer tablet with a touch screen. A single Site audit can take between five and seven days and covers the surface, underground, quality, maintenance and environment areas. The BSAFE Audit Tool is very comprehensive and has been successfully used to measure and verify our systems and standards since 1994.

The BSAFE Audit process is as follows:
  • Audits occur at sites three times per year
  • At the end of the Audit the SEQT Area Manager reviews the corrective actions register with relevant site personnel
  • Site personnel assign responsibilities to action items
  • The SEQT Area Manager acts as a resource to the Site to complete some of the action items
  • The SEQT Area Manager goes through the Audit results with Managing Director and relevant General Manager
  • The Managing Director and General Manager write feedback and comments on the Audit report
  • The Audit report goes back to the site for review.
  • The Audit report is uploaded to the BSAFEWeb Safety Database.
  • Corrective action close out is managed within the BSAFEWeb Safety Database
